Palm Beach Outlets is Open!

Big news! After a herculean building effort over the last year, the Palm Beach Outlets mall is open!

Located in the old Palm Beach Mall space off of Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. the completely new development covers over 400,000 square feet. Phase one, which opened on the 14th of Feb, has 100 stores. Phases two and three will include more big box stores, including Whole Foods and several other restaurants.

The developers did their best to bring as much green into the project as possible. Trees are planted liberally throughout the mall and the landscaping paired with the nice pavers being used gives the Palm Beach Outlets the feel of a European downtown walking street.

One of the cool things was to see the work of Corey Gershberg and his crew who did such a great job wrapping the utility boxes downtown. The same techniques were used, and the ugly utility boxes were wrapped with the natural photography allowing them to blend into the landscape.

I checked out the Palm Beach Outlets on Thursday night when they held a charity preview event. Thousands of people showed up to check out the 100 brand-name outlet stores

The mall was built to be an open mall. My initial concern was that it would feel like the Vero Beach Outlet Mall, which is a glorified strip mall, but the developers did a great job of designing the Outlets so that it has a connected feel.

Among the 100 stores that opened up were the big names: Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, DKNY, American Eagle, as well as smaller more niche store. We went into Lexon which sells electronics, luggage, travel, office, leisure accessories and most importantly the stylish “O bag”.

WPTV did a nice piece about South End West Palm Beachers Leigh Copin and her husband who opened up the Lexon. It’s nice, and pretty rare, to seeing local businesses have the opportunity to use a huge outlet mall like this as space to start / grow their own businesses.

So far the grand opening has been successful. The festivities are continuing today and from my “sources” people are still showing up.

Thanks to the Palm Beach Post and their #pboutlets hastag, we’ve been tracking who is talking on Social Media about this & people are excited.

That’s all from me. If you have some time, grab some friends and head on out, it’s a good time!
