Cocktails in Paradise at The Butcher Shop Beer Garden and Grill

Cocktails in Paradise, a series of social events that celebrate our county’s shared legacy at historic venues, returns to West Palm Beach at The Butcher Shop. Clematis by Fright

WHO: Guests of all ages and pets in costumes are expected to attend the City of West Palm Beach’s Clematis by Fright.

WHAT: To pack in even more spooky celebrations, the City of West Palm Beach has announced that this year’s Clematis by Fright will feature an expedited judging process for its famed costume contest – all for the sake of packing in more games than years prior. This family-friendly event, which adds a frightful twist on the weekly Clematis by Night concert series, will also feature live music by the Miami-based Latin/Funk sensations, The Spam Allstars. Free kids’ activities range from hay rides to face painting, and a costume contest for all ages, with a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes.

Art After Dark: Opening Night for BRILLIANT: Recent Acquisitions

Join the Norton Museum of Art for another Art After Dark! The night begins with Spotlight Talks: Bright Colors followed by a Screen Printing Workshop. Glenn Tomlinson, William Randolph Hearst Curator of Education, discusses vivid works on paper, glass and photography and the contemporary artists who made them during the Curator’s Conversation. FAU’s CME (Commercial Music Ensemble) will play alternative rock and pop covers ranging from Coldplay to Radiohead to MGMT. The night ends with another Spotlight Talk: Earth Works: Mapping the Anthropocene followed by happy hour. The event is from 5-9 p.m. and admission is free. GREENMARKET DOGGIE COSTUME CONTEST

Guests of all ages (and dogs of all breeds ?) are expected to attend the City of West Palm Beach’s GreenMarket Doggie Costume Contest.

For more than 20 years the West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been the premier Saturday spot to gather fresh food and local goods, and with more than 90 vendors signed up, the 2017 – 2018 season is just as promising. The 23rd season returns to the Waterfront on Saturday, October 7 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The area’s first farmer’s market, the GreenMarket continues to grow – and branch out – with the addition of 15 new vendors and regular historical walking tours, launching “By the Banyan” at the corner of Lantana Ave. and North Clematis St.

For added fun, this week’s GreenMarket will include a Doggie Costume Contest. Guests can register between 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mimosa Tent to pick up their jugging slips. Participants can then take their slips to the judges: Wet Nose Pantry, Good Dog Bakery and DogDeli Canine Kitchen. Contestants will be judged on creativity and originality and there will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

MASS The Witching Hour Halloween Weekend at Respectable Street

Moonfest 2017

Scarecrow Festival and Contest at the Historical Society of Palm Beach County

The Scarecrow Festival features kids’ activities, arts & crafts, live music, food, agriculture booths, and the renowned Scarecrow competition. Holding with tradition, the courthouse lawn will be filled with fall family activities such as mini- pumpkin decorating, a haystack hunt for treats, face painting, corn shucking, and crafts. Inside the Johnson History Museum, docents will lead tours of the new exhibition, “Shipwreck: Discovering Lost Treasures.” The all-inclusive admission is $10 per person (children under 3 are free); proceeds help provide free education programs and field trip transportation to local schools.
