Mazie’s at 3815 S. Dixie HWY opening for Dinner today

Mazie’s, featuring “New World Comfort Food,” will open on Dixie Highway’s restaurant row in West Palm Beach on Monday, April 2. The restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Eric Baker, formerly of Delray Beach’s Max’s Harvest and Jason Lakow, the former General Manager of Café Boulud.

“We are excited to welcome our guests here, and hope Mazie’s will be a true neighborhood spot. We will set aside 40% of our seats to accommodate walk-in diners for breakfast, lunch and dinner.” said Jason Lakow.

Mazie’s will serve Dinner only for the first few weeks. After that, they will open for brunch. The final plan is to be open  seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Brunch served 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Dinner will be served starting daily at 5 p.m. with happy hour daily from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Mazie’s is approximately 2600 square feet, built from the ground up and features a tropical garden patio, a nine-seat bar and 65 seats. The restaurant was named for Chef Eric’s grandmother Mazie, whose parents immigrated to Brooklyn from Europe in the 1890s.

The dinner menu features a variety of entrees, all served with two sides. There are 12 sides available. Each entrée comes with a sauce and there are 12 sauces to choose from. The dinner menu also features platters that can be shared. The menu will also feature daily specials as well as weekly favorites, including “Chinese Take Out” on Sundays.

Mazie’s will serve brunch every day featuring all day breakfast items, open-faced sandwiches, soups and salads.

“We have so enjoyed creating a menu that merges our family traditions and recipes with our own flair,” said Chef Eric Baker. “We like to think of Mazie’s as an all-day café meets neighborhood bistro.”

Sandra Lakow, a Seattle native, graduated from Harvard Law School and planned a career in environmental law. She met Jason while bartending at Amali and developed a passion for the culinary world. She will serve as Mazie’s sommelier.
